Description

Mukuzani is Georgia’s most famous and well-regarded controlled appellation – it is situated on the south-west bank of the Alazani river where the soil is light clay and calcareous. Mukuzani typically produces dry Saperavi wines, which see more oak ageing than other regions.

Tbilvino’s Mukuzani Special Reserve is produced in limited quantities of only a few thousand bottles a year. 100% of the wine goes into French oak barrels for 15 months to create a balanced and complex palate of tannins, dark fruit, and vanilla. Tobacco, blackberry, and blackcurrant notes give way to a long elegant finish. This is a serious wine with potential for long cellar ageing.

This Mukuzani Special Reserve is a good match with smoked cheeses and most meats. It pairs particularly well with “Bozbashi” (a traditional Georgian spicy tomato soup with large chunks of mutton or lamb meatballs), barbecued meats, braised lamb shank, and patés.
